Manmade Light at Night symposium

Few conservation efforts up to this point in time have recognized that, in the natural world, the darkness of night is as critical a component as the light of day, and that our short-sighted quest to eliminate night from our surroundings is having definite negative effects on our environment, and even our own health. Add in the environmental impact of the production of all the electricity which is being wasted by poorly engineered, thoughtlessly operated lighting, and the ecological tolls are massive.

We are proud to be providing funding for the symposium, being presented by Lewis University and the Illinois Coalition for Responsible Outdoor Lighting, to help keep it a free event. It will be a great venue for bringing the issues surrounding "Manmade Light at Night" to the attention of the public and our elected leaders.

Information on the presentation schedule and registration for the March 11, 2010 event is available on the Illinois Coalition for Responsible Outdoor Lighting website.
